Bharathi KalaiManram Tamil School was founded in 2000 at Sri Meenakshi Temple with 5 kids to provide a forum for the kids to learn and converse in Tamil language and in the process experience the Tamil culture.

As theTamil diaspora in Houston area grew, BKM also expanded to five locations – Pearland, Sugar land, Cypress, Katy, and Houston. In 2018, BKM Tamil Schools were accredited by AdvancED (currently Cognia). Our Schools are run 100% by volunteers from various backgrounds such as Doctors, Engineers, Teachers etc. Their passion for Tamil, and willingness to serve the community is the main reason for the success of our schools.

One of the primary goals of the school is to develop confidence in children to speak in Tamil to their parents and grandparents. In addition, our schools provide structure education to all the kids by following the ITA (International Tamil Academy) and/or ATA (American Tamil Academy) curriculum. Our Tamil school is affiliated with International Tamil Academy (ITA) formerly known as California Tamil Academy (CTA) and leverages their structured teaching methodology and proven teaching materials to educate the students.

As part of extracurricular activity, the school provides a stage where the kids can express their talent in Iyal, Isai and Nadagam (Literature, Music, & Drama). We encourage our students to participate in other cultural events, and Tamil related enrichment activities. Our teachers take extra efforts to work with children and parents who are non-native Tamil speakers and for special needs children to ensure that they are not left behind.

Our schools provide education at a standard equal to the Texas high school curriculum, that it can be leveraged to get a high school credit in lieu of Foreign language
